Hazel Riley is a writer who draws her inspiration from mythology, life and movies. She has written two novels for teenagers Thanis and The Crying published by
Oxford University Press.

She has just finished a new novel for young adults The Serpent's Kiss, set in Egypt, ancient and modern and is working on a collection of stories about Sirens and Muses.

She was born in Gateshead, but now lives in West London, near Portobello Road.

She is an experienced teacher in adult education and has written resources for adult literacy.

Hazel is the joint author with
Myrna Shoa of a series of books for Entry Level readers.
